General

Q. Who attends the SLEEP Meetings?

A. The SLEEP meeting is attended by over 6,500 physicians, researchers, technologists, students and allied health care professionals. Over fifty percent of the meeting’s attendees specialize in sleep medicine. Other specialties represented include pulmonary medicine, neurology, neuroscience, psychology, psychiatry and internal medicine.


Q. How many attendees are international?

A. Approximately fifteen percent of attendees are international. Eighty-five percent of attendees are from the United States.


Q. Where is SLEEP 2009 being held?

A. SLEEP 2009 will be held at the Washington State Convention & Trade Center in Seattle, Washington.

Registration

Q. What are the deadlines to register:

A. Advanced Registration: Wednesday, April 22, 2009
Register by this deadline to save significantly on the general registration fees.
Pre-registration: Wednesday, May 27, 2009
You may register on-site in Seattle after May 27.


Q. How do I register for the meeting:

A. There are three ways to register:
  1. Online (credit card only)

Q. Can I register for postgraduate courses or meet the professor sessions on site?

A. Yes, you can register for postgraduate courses or meet the professor sessions on site, but advanced registration is strongly encouraged. These events quickly fill up and there is no guarantee that there will be availability on site.


Q. Is it possible to register for a postgraduate course or meet the professor session without registering for the SLEEP 2009 general session?

A. General session registration is required in order to attend a postgraduate course or meet the professor session. No exceptions are made to this policy. Registration fees for the postgraduate courses and meet the professor sessions are additional to the general session registration fee.


Q. How do I make an edit to my registration?

A. In order to make changes to your registration, submit a request in writing to Ms. Randi Prince, Meeting Coordinator, at rprince@aasmnet.org.


Q. What is the cancellation policy?

A. Notification of cancellation must be submitted in writing to the APSS national office. A $50 administrative fee will be withheld on cancellations postmarked on or before May 20, 2009. No refunds are possible after this date. If you are registered for the meeting and do not attend, you will not be provided a refund for not attending.


Q. How do I receive CME credits or a letter of attendance?

A. To receive CME credits or a letter or attendance, SLEEP 2009 attendees must register for CME credit. The administrative fees are: $20 for AASM Members and $35 for Non-members. Individuals must complete an online evaluation form to receive CME credit or letter of attendance. Once the evaluation form is complete and the credits have been verified, there will be a link at the bottom of your event page that will allow you to e-mail yourself the certificate or letter of attendance. Further information will be detailed on the CME Reference Form included with your registration materials.


Abstract and Session Proposals

Q. How do I submit my abstract?

A. Abstracts are submitted online. Online submission will be live beginning October 31, 2008.

A. Session proposals are submitted online. Online submission will be live beginning October 31, 2008.


Q. When does the abstract and session proposal submission site open?

A. The abstract and session proposal submission site will open Friday, October 31, 2008.


Q. When is the deadline to submit an abstract and/or session proposal?

A. Abstract Submission Deadline – Monday, December 15, 2008
Session Proposal Submission Deadline – Monday, December 1, 2008


Q. When will I receive notification of my accepted abstract or session proposal?

A. Abstract notification letters will be sent via e-mail in late January 2009.
Postgraduate course notification letters will be sent via mail and e-mail in late December 2008.
Session proposal notification letters will be sent via mail and e-mail in mid January 2009.
Housing Bureau

Q. When does the SLEEP 2009 Housing Bureau open?

A. The SLEEP 2009 Housing Bureau will open in January 2009.


Q. How do I make hotel reservations?

A. All hotel reservations must be made via the SLEEP 2009 Housing Bureau, which will open in January 2009. The Housing Bureau will accept online, fax or mailed registrations. Additional information and details will be posted on the SLEEP 2009 Web site in January.


Transportation

Q. Will shuttle service be offered at SLEEP 2009?

A. At this time, shuttle service is not provided from the Washington State Convention and Trade Center to the hotel properties. The hotels are in proximity to the Washington State Convention and Trade Center. A map will be available in the near future.


Q. How do I get from the airport to my hotel?

A. Ground transportation from the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) is available via taxi cab or shuttle service (The GrayLine Downtown Airporter, (206) 626-6088). Complete information about these and other ground transport options is available through Seattle’s Convention and Tourism Bureau at via phone (206) 461-5888 or on their Web site at www.visitseattle.org.

Information about shuttle service transportation to/from the airport will be provided at a later date.
